Hey Friends! Thanks for your ongoing interest in our ministry at CoastEC.
I've been reminded again about the urgency of the mission God has given us to make disciples. When Jesus returns, which could be any day, He will divide people into two groups: those who know Him and those who don't. And they'll either spend forever with Him or without Him. Surely that needs to shape the way we see people and what we give our time and energy to! Please be praying for us as we seek to make Jesus known to the 25,000 people living in our own backyard.
Here's a snapshot of some big stuff that's been happening, and some schemes we're cooking up so you can keep us on your pray-dar.
God bless ya! Chris
NEW STAFF MEMBER!
We've found a church planter apprentice to join our staff team for the next 2 years!
Joel Hill is moving from South Australia to start with us on 18th January. His wife's name is Hannah and they have 4 kids - Amy (4), Finnegan (3), John (1), Albert (4 months).
God willing, he will help us start a CoastEC congregation up at Hallidays Point (2017-18), then plant an Independent Church in Taree (2019) with a view to further planting towards the coast (at Old Bar and Harrington).
Please pray Joel and his family as they move from South Australia to Taree, that they settle in well to a new area and church; and that God grows him as a leader, planter, husband and father. Ask for God to raise up a core group for a church plant in Taree.
Employing another staff member and starting a new congregation will obviously cost us more money. So can you please prayerfully consider giving financially towards these projects (or increasing your regular giving for 2017)? If you'd like to set up direct giving to the church account, details are HERE
What's been happening?
We've just wrapped up our 4 session LIFE series at a local cafe. Tasty new logo hey! Praise God for a great venue and for the 20+ visitors who attended. As follow up to LIFE, we've hosted some Q & A sessions on Wed nights at the church office. Please ask God to move people from doubt to faith and trust in Jesus. Ask that God continues to give our people wisdom, boldness and sensitivity as they try and encourage their friends to come to church (at Christmas), or attend our Jesus101 course for beginners (in February).
Women's Gingerbread House-Making Event (14th Dec)Please pray for many women to come along and build friendships with ladies form church. Pray that Jo's testimony will point them to Jesus.
Summerlife (1st-8th Jan)This is an SUFM youth mission we partner with. Pray for many local teens and young adults to come and meet Christians and hear about Jesus and get connected into local churches. Pray for the team as they travel to and from Forster to be kept safe; and for protection as they share Christ.
FinancesWe thank God for His amazing provision and the generosity of His people. So far we been able to cover all our expenses, and we are currently about 70% self funded by local giving. So if you are able to start or continue supporting us financially, that would be much appreciated. Head here for more details.
Christmas Service (24th Dec)Please ask for this to be a great time of celebration and proclamation. Ask that many in our community would be open to attending and that our people will be bold at inviting.
